Wine is at the centre of all that we do, and at the centre of the winery are our people with an unbridled passion for the Central Otago wine region. Guests are invited to join a complimentary wine tasting evening at the Lodge*, where you'll be able to learn about how our wines reflect our people & place. Keen to delve deeper? Our Cellar Door is just a few minutes' walk away. Add a tour or tasting to your stay and visit the region's oldest vineyard, get a behind-the-scenes peek into the working winery, step inside NZ's largest wine cave and taste your way through our range.
Home to the dreamers and the bold.
The first vineyard was planted here in the 1980s. Recognising the potential of Gibbston Valley, this vision set the course for a valley full of vines, the perfect place to interact with and celebrate a truly pure product. That charter set into motion a revolution of viticultural and production philosophies that continue to uphold the sanctity of the terroir. While it’s an honour to hold the namesake of home to the oldest Pinot Noir vines in Central Otago, we continue to push our own standards of quality by achieving Organic Certification from BioGro NZ and upholding our strong commitment to sustainable winemaking.

The overriding winemaking philosophy at Gibbston Valley is, and always has been, to express the individuality and nuance of each vineyard. We are dedicated to crafting wines that demonstrate the uniqueness and pedigree of Central Otago. We continue to push our own standards of quality and delivery of a pristine and honest sense of place.

Our Wine Club
Gibbston Valley’s Wine Club is your ticket to the most exciting and rewarding wine community in New Zealand.
In addition to quarterly shipments of your favourite Central Otago wine, the Wine Club gives you free on-site tours & tastings, shop-wide discounts and specials, discounted stays and treatments at the Lodge & Spa and access to our exclusive calendar of wine education events. One exciting, annual event is Barrel Blending day: Members are split into teams and work with the winemakers to blend the very best Pinot Noir from our three Bendigo vineyards; the winning wine becomes the ‘Member’s Reserve’ Magnum that bears your signature. More of a big family than a club - our wine community cannot wait to welcome you.
